8760 - Student Accident Insurance

The Board requires a signed statement of insurance coverage on the part of the student's parent or legal guardian a prerequisite for student registration in any school activity having a potential for personal injury. Certain activities may require the purchase of insurance by the student before participation is allowed.

The Board also recognizes that it is important to have adequate insurance coverage for all student-athletes. Thus, the Board requires all student-athletes in extra-curricular activities, including JROTC, purchase athletic insurance provided by the Board. The requirement shall be met prior to any participation.

The Superintendent shall recommend suitable and qualified insurance carriers and notify all parents of its availability.
