Pupil Progression Plan

It is the intent of the Florida Legislature that each student’s progression from one grade to another be determined, in part, upon satisfactory performance in English Language Arts, social studies, science, and mathematics; that district school board policies facilitate student achievement; that each student and his or her parent be informed of that student’s academic progress; and that students have access to educational options that provide academically challenging coursework or accelerated instruction, pursuant to F.S. 1002.3105.

Florida Statute 1008.25 requires school districts to establish a comprehensive plan for student progression from one grade to another based on the student’s mastery of the standards in F.S. 1003.41, specifically English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies standards.

The Hillsborough County Public School Student Progression Plan provides requirements for progression from kindergarten through high school graduation and includes postsecondary educational opportunities.

The District adheres to the Florida Education Equity Act that prohibits discrimination related to race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, disability, or marital status. Provisions are made for all students to participate fully in classroom instruction and extracurricular activities. (F.S.1000.05)

All procedures listed in this Student Progression Plan are subject to change due to Hillsborough County School Board action, legislative requirements, or Board approved site level School Improvement Plans. Students and parents will be notified when such changes occur.

The Student Progression Plan was Board approved on January 23, 2018.

All policies in the Pupil Progression Plan are subject to change due to the actions of the Florida Legislature, the Florida Board of Education, the state and federal courts, the School Board of Hillsborough County, and the district or school administration.

SOME INDIVIDUAL SCHOOL PROCEDURES MAY VARY ACCORDING TO EACH SCHOOL’S IMPROVEMENT PLAN APPROVED BY THE HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD.
